Agent Instructions
Read this file first when using the open-edx-platform-atlas skill. It tells you which version of the platform map is current and which files belong to it.
Load only feature area files where the map_version frontmatter field matches the current version above. Files with older version IDs are historical archives — load them only when explicitly asked to compare versions or reference historical map structure.
Versioning Rules
A version bump is required when the map structure changes:
- Adding a new platform area
- Removing an existing platform area
- Splitting one area into multiple, or merging multiple into one
- Renumbering feature areas within an area
A version bump is NOT required for:
- Editing content within a feature area (Overview, Architecture, History, Repos)
- Renaming a feature area or area name for clarity
- Updating repository lists, activity levels, or Recent Changes
- Filling in History sections via the interview process
- Fixing errors, typos, or improving descriptions
How to Create a New Version
- Decide on the new version number:
- Minor changes to map structure → increment minor:
1.0→1.1 - Major restructure (most areas change) → increment major:
1.x→2.0
- Minor changes to map structure → increment minor:
- Create new feature files for affected areas with the updated
map_versionvalue - For all files carried forward into the new version (whether changed or not), update their
map_versionto the new version number — the agent loading instruction requiresmap_versionto match the current version - Update "Current Version" at the top of this file
- Add a row to the Version History table below
- Add a section listing the new version's feature area index
